Atlanta- Opening Day started with a bang and ended with thunder ,as Jayla Morrow (pictured above) and the Steel City Gators showed the world what Alabama basketball is all about. Morrow was a menace on the court and on Saturday she brought the gym to their feet, and did with a smile. Averaging 20.4 ppg and 11 assist, she helped the Steel City Gators to a 31-27 win over the Alabama Road Runners and a impressive 48-17 win over the Montgomery Stars.

If expeirence in big games is needed Marrow is the answer. She is a two time state championship winner and is rated the number 1 pg in the state of Alabama. Morrow has narrowed her college choices to University of North Carolina, Notre Dame, and University of South Carolina.

The Steel City Gators are the early favorites to win the Reebok  Elite tournament but expect the Alabama Road Runners to make a strong run and avenged their earlier loss.

Middle School Girls Recap

While the Steel City Gators woman-handled the High School Division, it was all about three letters one and team, A.O.T.  The Lady Rebels stormed through the competition and owned the Crampton Multiplex. Devyne Turner (Pickneyville Middle School) ran the lanes, and the ladies found her for easy scores down low.  On defense the Lady Rebels turned up the volume with their full court press and Denim DeShields was active, as she forced their opponents into turnovers.

Against the NWF Dream (FL). A.O.T executed according to plan while Turner dropped 12 points and 8 rebounds in the 34-9 win.  DeShields added 6 steals while Sianny Sanchez (Lovinggood middle school 2022) found her range. The Lady Rebels finished their tournament run with a 19-10 win over the Alabama Roadrunners,

The early favorites for the championship will be the Lady Rebels, but expect the Road Runners not to go  away quietly.  Tomorrow’s outcome will be determined by role players finding ways to give a spark.
